The Training
The 12-week training plan is based on the award-winning Fit by Nature outdoor training program and the book of the same name. We utilize this curriculum specifically adapted for the Camino de Santiago and other long-distance walking. This is our most popular service, and we have been running these programs since 2003.
The training begins the day you register with the on-target fitness self-evaluation. Our coaches then review the results and set up our first meeting to design a personalised training program, which you can follow from the day you join until the end of the 12-week program.
What this means is that you waste no time utilizing your motivation to take the first steps in a fantastic fitness journey. This process has created a solid general fitness foundation for thousands of like-minded people preparing for outdoor adventures.
Overview
From day one until the end of the 12-week program, you will be supported by our field team. Our focus is on safety, both physical and emotional. Our system is a tried and tested process based on science-based coaching protocols, exercise physiology, and neurobiology.
This program combines the technical aspects of physical activity with a carefully planned progression to build endurance over time. It balances effort, recovery, and specific intensities to suit what is right for you, ensuring you maintain motivation, energy, proper sleep, nutrition, and recovery to perform at your best
Program Structure
Weekly Sessions: A 45-minute video conference each week for the duration of the 12 weeks.
One-on-One Coaching: An initial check-in and personalization of your program, plus two additional one-on-one sessions at the midpoint and towards the end of the program.
Time Commitment: Plan to commit approximately 5–7 hours per week initially, increasing to 12–15 hours per week toward the end of the plan for maximum results.
Foundational Pillars
The program focuses on strength, endurance, self-care, and balance. We cover nutrition, stretching, and recovery, including notes and advice from our physical therapist, fitness coaches, dietitians, and other scientists.

Who Does This?
This program is for all walks of life. Many who join have not exercised in a long time or have not achieved the success they wanted in the past. Our community is diverse, but those who do well trend towards making a contribution to the community and a supportive environment. Our members are discerning about information and the way we do things. While many fitness trends come and go, this program stands the test of time with a basic, no-nonsense strategy. You will gain knowledge and tools that you can begin using immediately to create remarkable results over time.
Equipment Needs
You need very little equipment to succeed. The most important requirement is a pair of athletic shoes that work for you, and we will provide guidance on this during the initial evaluation. The basic foundation of the Fit by Nature training plan is that you can do it anywhere; for instance, you can literally do the Daily Dozen in your pajamas while the coffee is brewing.
If you are preparing for the Camino de Santiago or a significant adventure, we will also share knowledge and advice on how to select the items you will need for that. Many ask if they need to join a gym; the answer is no. Others ask if they need to buy weights or gym equipment; while some enjoy having home equipment, it is not required. If you have a good pair of shoes and athletic clothing to wear, you will succeed with the tools we share with you.
Leadership Credentials.
A core principle we follow is that no one cares what you know until they know that you care. We select coaches and team members based on their ability to connect, be supportive, and provide empathy. We realize that we don't train programs; we train people.
We look for life experience and leaders who understand how to win in competition, but how to use the lessons in failure to turn setbacks into comebacks.
As well as possessing significant academic and professional credentials. You can expect that our coaches will lead with respect, kindness and care.
The Results.
The on-target fitness evaluation is designed for two things: to learn about your goals, strengths, and abilities, and to answer the question of whether we expect you will succeed. We begin with the end in mind. Our success rate for participants is among the highest in the fitness industry.
Much of this is because we seek to educate rather than to motivate. Once we know your strengths, abilities, and opportunities, we can provide the knowledge and skill that will give you the toolkit to succeed in the direction you want to go.
