Outdoor Fitness Training Camp: Scotland
2026 / 2027 Training Camps | Loch Garten Lodges
The Invitation
The Training Camp is based on the award-winning Fit by Nature outdoor training program and book of the same name. We utilize this curriculum specifically adapted for the Camino de Santiago and long-distance walking.
The work begins the day you register with a thorough fitness evaluation with our coaches, resulting in a personalised training program which you can follow from the day you join - until the Scotland training camp.
What this means is that you will already have made significant fitness gains by the time you arrive. Then, our time at Loch Garten Lodges will be used to take those results to the next level and to design a plan for going forward.
Overview
From arrival until you leave, the camp consists of six full days. Because you will have already been training with your personalized plan, this creates an opportunity to make this a graduation week. We will begin by reviewing everything you have worked on and use the training time to perfect skills with your coaches.
The daily schedule is a full one, beginning with early morning coffee or a sunrise meditation for those who want, as well as the Daily Dozen, all followed by a wonderful breakfast. After breakfast, each day continues with activities.
Training and Hikes On two of the days, there will be full-day hikes. We will pack lunches and be out close to dinner time. On other days, we will do shorter hikes.
Other Activities On two afternoons, we have a chance to do a second activity for the day; such as water-based recreation, including kayaking, paddle-boarding, sailing, or wild water swimming for anyone brave enough for the cool temps. All activities are led by first-class instructors. Some activities involve less physical movement, where we will have the opportunity to build in creative activities with local artists, photographers, and wilderness rangers who will lead guided wildlife tours of the local area.
Self-Care and Balance Following the time-tested principle of Challenge by Choice, no activity is mandatory. Should there be something that you would like to not do, we can offer alternatives. Because one of the things we are practicing - is solid self-care and balance - we have also built in downtime and personal time.
Nutrition and Skill Building A quick note on nutrition: we cater to all tastes and needs. Our cuisine is largely locally sourced organic food. In addition to preparing an exquisite menu, we will also have some cooking classes.
In Summary This is a full week, and participants will leave with a wealth of knowledge, practice, and new insights on what is possible. We expect the toolkit that participants take away from the training camp is full of knowledge, ideas, and skills to really embrace a lifestyle of fitness, health, wellness, and new opportunities.
The Location
As you arrive at Loch Garten, you are surrounded by pristine nature: Scots Pine forests, lochs, and trails with mountains to the West and East. We are located near the pristine Speyside River, which fuels local farmlands and provides the water for some of the best Scotch whisky in the world. On arrival day, we will conduct a briefing and take our transport to several local spots to view the terrain where we will spend the next six days.
Loch Garten Lodges.
Loch Garten Lodges are both humble and exquisite. Each lodge has its own character, whether looking out onto sheep crofting land or into the woods. The area is home to plentiful birdlife and the occasional pine marten. The nights here are quiet and pitch dark, offering views of the starlight and occasionally the Northern Lights. In 2026, Loch Garten Lodges were recommended as one of the one of the UKs seven cosiest woodland cabins in the United Kingdom by The London Times.
Local Leadership Knowledge.
We utilize first-class instruction for all activities. Our team is joined by local artists, photographers, and wilderness rangers who provide guided tours of the nature sanctuary, forests and surrounding area.
This integration of local knowledge ensures a deep connection to the environment while you practice new skills.
The Toolkit you leave with.
Participants leave with a wealth of knowledge and a designed plan for going forward.
The objective is to provide a toolkit full of ideas and skills to embrace a lifestyle of fitness, health, and wellness. This graduation week ensures you have the practical experience to take your results to the next level.
